Last Sunday, Charles, Joanne, Leslie and I were at the Save Darfur Rally in Central Park. We volunteered for Human Rights Watch and listened to speakers and singers. I was impressed by two things: 1. how many young people were there (at least 60%) 2. how many Jewish groups were there (as many as 50% of the groups).
It occured to me that Cambodian Americans aren't organized to tell the history of the Khmer Rouge. Therefore they're not organized to advocate for the prevention of genocide.
As Cambodians, what is the conversation we bring to the world? I don't think we have one. Not yet anyway.

So, i'm googling for Cambodian-American filmmakers 2006, searching for inspiration and motivation and I came across your UCLA premiere ad. I was so happy to know that a Cambodian woman is involved and successful in the shark-infested film industry. Sometimes, I think its scary and nice to know that there are a few Cambodians out there pursuing their passion in filmmaking. I just wanted you to know, that what you are doing and who you are in this lifetime, is making a difference to someone out there in the world. I am one of them.
Thank you for being one of the pioneers to pave the road for the next generations of asians.
